The Barn

Other than the location, the barn was and still is the best part of this property. As with everything, it was filled to the rafters with years of accumulated “treasures” but, unlike the house, we could see it’s potential immediately. We think the barn was built sometime in the late 90’s and replaced this original horse barn -

An improvement over the original for sure. It’s well built with big timbers, hemlock floors upstairs and a concrete slab downstairs. There are some walls framed downstairs for a small kitchen and a bath on one side and a big work area/garage space on the other.

They definitely had plans for the barn that didn’t involve farm animals. Bad news for mine but don’t worry, they will be moving with us. The farm part of this new adventure will take place on another property close by. You will hear more about all of them, some not pictured, in the near future.

Molly, Miles, & Tess

I have a vision for the barn, will keep you posted as it evolves, but for now will just tell you my inspiration for the upstairs is from one of my all time favorite houses designed by a close family friend; Here it is -

Stall Bedrooms

By the time we move to the property this Summer, we will have 2 kids in college or at least college bound in the Fall. We would like the barn to be their space to come home to, close but with enough distance to let them keep some of the independence they really want and a cool place to hang out. Stay tuned …
